OkCupid Vs. PlentyOfFish - Battle Royale - Which Is The Bettter Free Dating Site?

Okay so we have a battle royale for you today. OkCupid Vs. PlentyOfFish. In one corner we have PlentyOfFish, a simple yet fun free dating site with a great online app vs. OkCupid, a more detailed site laid out somewhat similar to Facebook with a pretty snazzy app of their own.

Were going to face off these two free dating sites and see who comes out on top. Both of these 100% free dating sites have lots to offer and can help you land dates, and both have been around for a while. Today we will see who takes the cake.

Member Base

If we look simply at sheer numbers PlentyOfFish beats OkCupid. POF has the most members of pretty much all free dating sites and numbers around 25 million members if not more. OkCupid at least at the time of writing this article is at about 10 million members which still isn't too shabby.

That said quality beats quantity. OkCupid makes it easy to come across matches as they have more tools to focus your search of potential d.ating partners as well as refine your own profile. OkCupid has a large selection of questions you can answer which helps to match you up with other daters. POF lacks this feature. I also love how OkCupid allows you to set privacy options and match options which allows users to exclude people they are not interested in.

PlentyOfFish has OkCupid beat when it comes to sheer numbers and I suppose diversity as well due to the sheer number of daters they have over OkCupid however I'm going to have to give this round to OkCupid because of the quality of people on the site.

It may be a generalization to say people on PlentyOfFish are emtionally unstable, unemployed and women tend to have three kids by three different baby daddies however sometimes it feels that way. This is totally personal anecdotal data however I find a better caliber of person on OkCupid. People seem to be more emotionally stable, have their lives in order, be more open to relationships vs pure hookups or friends with benefits.

This round goes to OKCupid.

Dating Site Features

Both of these sites have some excellent features as well as excellent mobile apps. These features and apps make it much easier to find dating matches you desire. PlentyOfFish does have a chemistry predictor that can give you an idea of someone is a good match for you or not.

With PlentyOfFish you can also search and view favorites, rate profiles. The downside being PlentyOfFish sometimes asks users to pay for these advanced features.

Now on to OkCupid. OkCupid definately has more fun features. I really enjoy the member quizzes and questions you can add to complete your profile such as how many hours a day do you spend on social networking sites, how many tweets do you send per day, etc. Another fun thing is they give you the option to create your own profile questions that you and other daters can answer.

It's very close and almost a tie here but again I'm going to have to give it to OkCupid. Though both sites offer some cool features I find that OkCupid has more features, the features are easier to find and use, and the layout and how the site works is easier to use for me. This may be in some part due to personal preferance but I need to again give this round to OkCupid. That's two rounds to OkCupid and zero to PlentyOfFish so far.

Online Dating Safety

As a guy I'm not nearly as concerned about safety as a women, however it's something worth mentioning as without women we wouldn't have a dating site. For this round I give OkCupid and PlentyOfFish a TIE!!! Both of these sites are trusted websites. Both sites protect your personal information from other members as well as potential people trying to steal  your identity. You also have the ability to block members from seeing your profile and privacy settings are straightforward and easy to use.

What's The Cost?

Many websites claim to be free but very few are. Nothing is more frustrating than signing up for a "free" site to find out that you can view messages sent to you, respond to messeges sent to you, or do much of anything besides browse people on the sites.

These two websites OkCupid and PlentyOfFish are actually FREE!!! Online dating sites as great are hard to find. Sure there may be a few annoying banner ads and pop up ads but well worth the minor inconvenience for such great free online dating platforms. Though both these sites do offer certain paid features they are truly free online dating website and you can do everything you want to do for free. I have no complaints about price here for either site.

This round is a TIE!!! We have 2 Round going to OkCupid and zero rounds going to PlentyOfFish.

In Summary...

Both these sites are great sites and worth your time, no question there. PlentyOfFish has OkCupid beat on sheer numbers, however OkCupid in my opinion better quality daters both in terms of looks and having ones life together. It also seems to have a more active userbase. PlentyOfFish in my experience has many profiles that havn't been viewed in months if ever used at all.
