I can't tell you how many times I'm browsing an online dating website and discover the person in the photos is too hard to clearly make out in the picture. Oftentimes I'm hesitant to contact these women for fear of what they may actually look like if I were to meet them. It also makes me wonder...is there a reason this person is posting blurry photos...what are they trying to hide?
It's no secret when it comes to online dating photos are your biggest selling point, so it makes you wonder how do so many people get it so wrong.
If you want to get more action and attention on your online dating profile here are tips on how to take excellent photos for your profile, which is crucial to the online dating game...
Wear Clothes In Your Photos
Maybe your proud of your six pack abs and how hard you've worked to get them and want the world to see, and maybe it will attract a few women, however more often than not women are immediately turned off by these photos and label you a douche bag even though they love taking the 45 degree downward cleavage shots and bikini shots.
As for you women out there. Sure it's attractive to see a women in a bikini, and yes as guys we love to see body shots vs those photos where a women's head is peaking out from behind a door or wearing a giant baggy sweater but bikini shots and underwear shots are going to attract the wrong type of attention more often than not. That said we do like seeing full body shots as guys we all know average body type does not mean average, it usually means more than average.
Don't Hide Your Face
Make sure other daters can see your face. Don't wear giant sunglasses, hats, pull your hair over your face, take pics from weird angles you can't be seen from, or do strange negative or sephia affects to your photos. Other daters want to see what you look like. Hiding your face makes it so you can't be seen and to top it off it makes you look self conscious in that you don't want to be seen.
Keep Your Friends Out Of Pictures
We just did a post titled Don't Use Group Photos As Your Online Dating Profile Photo . It's great that your popular and have friends but your online dating profile is about you not your friends. Add to that group photos are generally taken from a good distance making you hard to see, taken in bars where light is bad, and taken by smart phones which don't take the best pics. Leave the online dating photos to photos of yourself, not your friends.
No Webcam Shots
Your better off using a real camera or at the very least a smart phone camera. Webcams are generally like 1-2 mega pixel cameras so they are not clear and they never do a person justice.
Stay Out Of The Bathroom
Okay, so being a guy I understand the bathroom photos. Unlike women most of us guys don't have a full length mirror in our bedroom, however if possible opt for a better room than the bathroom or maybe even have a roommate or friend take a photo of you. If you must take a photo in your bathroom make sure your sink is clean and not covered in toothpaste and beard trimmings and make sure there's no turds floating in your toilet.
Submit Multiple Photos
People want to see multiple photos. It's always a disappointment when you check out a profile, see one photo you like and look for more only to realize they only have one photo. People can often look drastically different from one photo to the next so people like to see a wide array of photos to get an idea of what you really look like. If someone is interested in you but sees less than three photos or even worse a single photo, click, that is what they are going to do, click to the next online dater.
Look At The Camera
Many people try to be overly artistic, just look at the camera.
