Don't Use Group Photos As Your Online Dating Profile Photo

Other Daters Want To See YOU, Not Your Friends

While browsing online dating sites I'm always surprised at the number of group photos I see. Group photos obviously being photos of the online dating at a bar or at a party with a group of 6 or 8 other friends in the photo.

Maybe you do want to use a group photo. Maybe it's a picture you love, maybe you think you look especially good in the photo or maybe you just want a photo showing you in your own setting having fun with friends. I suppose this is fine but keep the group photos to one in your profile. Us guys want to date you, not your friends.

In this post were going to discuss 6 reasons why group photos aren't good for your online dating profile. Read on...

Perfect Example Of A Dark Photo Not Showing The Subject, YOU, Well

Group photos aren't crisp clear photos

Group photos by nature need to be taken a good distance away from the subject, you, so it's not going to be a clear close photo that you can be seen well in. Group photos also tend to be taken out at bars where there's low light, smoke, generally taken with a smart phone camera which doesn't take the clearest pictures. You want your online dating photos to be crisp and clear.

Group photos make you seem self conscious

Many people seem to be self conscious or embarrassed to be on an online dating site. This shows itself in a variety of forms from editing photos making them look like negative, people taking photos of themselves in big sunglasses and wearing hats, hair over their face,  strange angles that make them hard to see, or the famous group photo.

Don't be shy about being on an online dating site. When I see group photos, especially when every picture of someone they have on their profile is them in a group photo it screams "see I really do have friends in real life."  It can come across as your self conscious to be seen by yourself or be seen in a clear up close photo you can be seen in.

Sometimes it's difficult to tell who you are

I often come across profiles where a women has maybe 4-5 group photos. Women often look different in different photos, and often times women look somewhat similar to their friends. Add to that group photos normally aren't very close photos or very clear so often times I'll look through 4-6 photos and I still can't tell which girl is the one who has the profile up and which ones are their friends.

Your friends make take the focus away from you

It may sound harsh but oftentimes I see a group photo or a photo of a women with her friend and oddly enough, more often than not I find the friend more attractive than the women who's profile I'm viewing. It would obviously be in poor taste to do this but I often think to myself, I'd like to message her and ask her to hook me up with that friend of hers in the picture.

Be respectful of your friends privacy

Okay so I highly doubt everyone on dating sites asks their 6 friends in their photo with them..."Do you mind if I use this photo of us at the bar for my online dating profile."

Respect your friends privacy, don't put their pictures up on the Internet or on an online dating site. This is your profile not theirs. Your photos should features you, not them.
